Featuring Beef in Major Media

Thanks to in-person deskside checkoff meetings with major national consumer media, the importance of red meat as a food protein source was included in feature articles in the April editions of SHAPE and SELF. The SHAPE article included quotes from Nancy Rodriguez, Ph.D., R.D.N. and Donald Layman Ph.D., and recommendations to include roughly 20 to 30 grams of protein at each meal. Health professionals continue to support beef’s role in a healthy diet, as seen in coverage in Men’s Fitness, The Washington Post and Cooking Light.

The Texas Beef Council (TBC) conducts the $1 per head national checkoff program for Texas beef producers and is also the contractor for the Beef Promotion Research Council of Texas (BPRCT), which administers the $1 per head Texas state checkoff program. TBC’s mission is to increase beef demand in the state through programs of beef promotion, research and education.
